CONGRATULATIONS DALE HOLEC REPUBLICAN OF THE YEAR!!!
Dues and Ads Due! 2003 dues and ads are due. We would like to close out 2003 dues and ads. If you have not done so, please send your check to Darlene Conner, treasurer, 152 Chappel Dam Rd, Gladwin, Mi 48624.
June and July Meetings Our meetings will be held the 1st Thursday of June (5th) and the 2nd Thursday of July (10th), at 6.30pm. at Hunters Bar and Grill in Gladwin.
Thanks For helping With Road Cleanup! The spring cleanup was chaired by Bob Schafer and volunteers were: Bob Schafer, Larry hooper, Jim & Pat McGillis, Dick & Sheri Ewald, Dale Ross, Greer & Taylor Holec, and Linda Birgel. Time spent was about 1-1/2 hours and everyone got their exercise for the day. Thanks for all your help.
The Fair Is Coming It is time to start planning for the 2003 Gladwin County Fair. As in the past, we will have a booth. We have workers, but we need a Chair. Please think about volunteering for this important job. We promise you will have lots of help.
1st District Meeting The 1st District will hold next meeting in conjunction with State Party Strategy Meeting June 19th at the Quality Hotel in Gaylord at 6.30pm. The 1st District meeting will follow the State Party meeting and should last approximately 1/2 hour. If you wish to attend, contact Don Birgel at 426-6836.
Republican Of The Year The honors of Republican of the year went to Dale Holec. Dale is a relatively new member in Gladwin, although he pitched right in and has been active in helping our Republican candidates, working on many of our activities such as Fair Booth, Road Cleaning, membership, and financial support. The Gladwin County Republican Party is pleased to honor Dale Holec as Republican of the Year!
Bell Ringer - 2003 Special award given by the Chair each year for longtime outstanding service to our local Republican Party went to Larry Grove. Larry has worked and supported every function and candidate for many years. When help is needed one of the first names to come to mind is Larry Grove. Without the ongoing support of Republicans like Larry, our success would be limited. Thank you Larry - you are indeed a "Special Republican".
2003 Lincoln Day Success State Sen. Tony Stomas provided an informative and entertaining speech to our Lincoln Day attendees. Thanks to Kristie and her team for a delicious dinner, great entertainment and fantastic facilities. A special thanks to the many women members who provided the delicious pies. Sec. of State Terri land donated a framed Seal of Michigan which increased our profit. Thank you, Terri! Also, thanks to Lana Edick for her special donation. We were pleased to see many out of town guests. This is indicative of the work being done to bring our new 1st District Rep. friends into a close-knit organization. Work is underway to formalize a committee for 2004. Our Chair, Don Birgel, is already hard at work to find a speaker, and we have already had a member volunteer to be our dinner Chair next year!
